Dominion Institute celebrated its 10th anniversary in June
with an event that brought together more than 400 friends of the
Institute.
Veterans,
Canadian Forces personnel and students gathered in Victoria, Edmonton
and Winnipeg in early 2007 to participate in the Memory Project
Conference series. Participants were greeted by keynote speakers
Master Corporal Paul Franklin of the Canadian Forces, the Honourable
John Harvard, Lt. Governor of Manitoba, and Writer and Journalist

spring, the Dominion Institute was excited to launch Designing
History, a challenge for young designers to create a 3D model
of the site of the D-Day landings at Juno Beach on June 6, 1944
for upload on Google Earth. Rahul Desai, a 21 year old from India,

Members of Parliament joined Passages to Canada speakers at events
across Canada during the first half of 2007. More...

the spring of 2007, the Dominion Institute unveiled two new media
features on www.dominion.ca. Users can now listen to Canadian
veterans describe their wartime experiences through the DI
Podcast and watch Dominion Institute productions streamed

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy
Ridge, the Dominion Institute released a poll showing that
a majority of Canadians are losing their grasp of First World
War history. More...

partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage, Passages
to Canada launched the Passages Human Rights Project, resulting
in more than 50 school and community events across Canada that
reached over 6,000 people between January and March 2007.

next Memory Project Conference, an event aimed at encouraging
Canadian Forces veterans and currently serving personnel to share
their stories with young people, will be held in Quebec in November

winners of the Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge will
be announced at special awards ceremony in Ottawa on October 30.
The young writers from the 14-18 and 19-29 age categories will
be presented with cash prizes and have their stories featured
