"We the undersigned feel enormous gratitude for the sacrifice made by all the Canadian Armed Forces through the ages in defence of this country and its values; acknowledge the very special nature of the sacrifice made by those who fought in the First World War in appalling conditions and with terrible loss of life; note that only three First World War veterans remain; and urge the Prime Minister that their sacrifice, and all of those they served with under arms from 1914-1918, be celebrated by offering a state funeral to the family of the last veteran of the First World War resident in Canada."

John Cole Oshawa ON thank-you all for my freedom...god bless
Jack Robinson Toronto ON I have problems believing that we must petition to have this enacted. Not only should this be adopted for these great men of WW1 but for all wars we have been involved in. With the state of our armed forces, this would be a message of support.
corinne mac kay oshawa ON
R King Niagara Falls AB
Jenifer Clarke Oshawa ON Please offer this family the funeral that the veteran deserves. It would go so far to represent what each & every war vet deserved from the war and represent the Country's respect & duty to all of them through this one act of respect & kindness. without it, the government will be reinforcing the disregard for Rememberance Day & our vets from all wars.

David Henderson Demorestville ON
Catherine Penrose Barrie ON My Grandfather gave his eyesight in WW1 and I think Canada should honour all the extremely brave men who made terrific sacrifices and gave up their lives to help keep this great country free.
Dixie McLeod Kars ON
theresa lake oakville ON god bless them all
Patricia Critchley Calgary AB I think the least Canada can do to recognize these brave men and women is to provide a state funeral. We need to understand that the state funeral would not be solely for our last surviving WW1 veteran, but symbolically for all those who served in the great war.
Donald Neill Ottawa ON I wholeheartedly support this petition. "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we shall remember them." - Major D.A. Neill (Ret'd), CD, OMMM
Dan Curran Windsor ON
TAMMY GREEN WOODSTOCK ON such a small gesture in honor of those who fought for us.
