"We the undersigned feel enormous gratitude for the sacrifice made by all the Canadian Armed Forces through the ages in defence of this country and its values; acknowledge the very special nature of the sacrifice made by those who fought in the First World War in appalling conditions and with terrible loss of life; note that only three First World War veterans remain; and urge the Prime Minister that their sacrifice, and all of those they served with under arms from 1914-1918, be celebrated by offering a state funeral to the family of the last veteran of the First World War resident in Canada."

Lisa Fraser-Parks Port Williams NS For all of the pain and deaths that these brave men from our country went through during the war(s), they certainly deserve more than what they were given back here at home. These men (and women) deserved a lot more respect than they received. As far as I am concerned, all that lived to come home deserved a state funeral.

Shawn Turner Leroux Pointe-Claire QC A terrific idea. All of Canada should be proud to honour the sacrifices made for our freedom.

Evgeny Fialkov Edmonton AB I feel that veterans have made many sacrifices for Canada, more than any prime minister or governor general, and thus they deserve a proper state funeral. To do otherwise and deny them that privilage would be immoral and unethical, and a big shame.

Doug Mackay London ON I am 100% behind this as my father is 85 years old and a WW11 veteran.
